Second Generation of Oakes Family Invests in Capitol Citicom Print & Graphics
When brothers Mike and Kevin Oakes recently acquired the family firm, Capitol Citicom Print & Graphics, one of Columbus and Central Ohio’s leading digital print providers, one of their first technology investments was a new Standard Horizon AFC566FG fully-automated floor model folder. After researching a variety of folder offerings, Mike determined that the automation, ease of use & set-up of the AFC566FG fit well in their fast-paced environment and will ultimately lead to increased revenue generation. The new automated folder created a giant leap in their folding capabilities and overall production capacity. According to Kevin, the company processes approximately 1000 jobs/month, including print, binding & coating and the Standard folder will only add to their capacity. Kevin and Mike are also investing in their employees by devoting time and effort in cross-training endeavors in various areas of the print shop and with various pieces of equipment, which will provide assurances that there is no downtime and increases the skillsets of employees leading to increased pride and satisfaction.
Previously, Capitol Citicom Print & Graphics purchased a Prism Cutter and a TECLighting UV coater through sales representative Diana Griffith of Graphco. Commenting on Capitol’s new equipment investments, Diana says “it’s been a pleasure to work with two generations of the Oakes family as they grow and diversify their digital print offerings for their market. We can only hope that our relationship with them continues to grow. At Graphco we certainly understand and respect the entrepreneurial aspects of family businesses as Graphco is now led by a new generation as well.”
