Minuteman Press of Westfield, NJ Welcomes Their Newest Employee: The Graphic Whizard PT8336SCC Multi Slitter/Cutter/Creaser
WESTFIELD, NJ – March 23, 2022 –
With the time-saving features of the PT 8336SCC Multi, Graphic Whizard is helping their customers recover from the blows to business due to the pandemic, back and better than ever before through the automation of slitting, cutting and creasing.
When businesses began to pick up again, Minuteman Press of Westfield, NJ decided they needed some help with production. MMP Westfield owner, Jim Mooney, and Director of Operations, Seamus Mooney, reached out to their peers and Minuteman corporate to brainstorm how they could reduce the time spent on finishing.
“There’s only the two of us now in the shop”, says Jim Mooney. “We had a graphic designer that did production work however, unfortunately, the pandemic forced us down to two people. Seamus, doing what it takes to get the work out, now shifted into graphic design and production seeing a definite need for automation”.
The Mooney’s used to fear accepting raffle ticket jobs. Now they don’t - they promote it in fact. “We don’t have to send it out somewhere,” says Jim. “We used to pay others to do them, now we keep the job in-house, we make a lot more money and we don’t have to cut them by hand”.

“To cut just a few business cards, you’re talking about 20 minutes on the guillotine cutter”, says Seamus, “now with the Graphic Whizard PT8336SCC Multi, we program it and it just cuts the business cards on its own - it babysits itself”. Jim continued to say that “this allows Seamus to go off and do other production or graphic design work. He literally just cut 1500 business cards yesterday on the machine. It took about 30 minutes total time; that is setting them up, printing and cutting. Like Tom Connors of Minuteman Press Wall, NJ who referred this machine to us, he named his Graphic Whizard SCC Steve. We named ours after him, we call our's Tommy. It’s like having another employee, it’s been the Savior”.

“Another example of the time savings with our PT 8336SCC Multi is we do a lot of Direct Mail pieces. Before we had the SCC, we would have to manually bundle them in 100’s. Now, Tommy, AKA SCC, cuts them into groups of 100 as required by the Postal Service. We pull them off the machine, rubber band them and the machine starts again. It really helps on our labor and saves us from having to cut and count them. This is a large mailing for us and the 8336 makes our life so much easier. It literally just changed our lives”.
