Minuteman Press (The Seifert Printing Company) in Youngstown, Ohio is a family owned and operated full service print shop run by husband and wife team Dean and Dawn Seifert. Continuing to grow their business every year is possible, says Dawn. “by keeping up with the latest technology and provoding a one stop shopping experience for our customers.”
Minuteman Press provides both offset and digital printing, as well as graphic design and a multitude of bindery, finishing and mailing services. The ability to “exceed customer’s expectations with exceptional quality and service,” says Dean, is what makes Minuteman Press so successful.
Dean and Dawn recently invested in three new finishing technologies, and are now able to provide more diverse finishing services to their customers. These include the Graphic Whizard CreaseMaster Plus Crease/Perf/Score Machine, Graphic Whizard Transport, Graphic Whizard XDC-530 UV Coater and Bni CT620exa SRA3 Digital Auto Card Cutting System. The equipment package was purchased primarily for its automated handling of products (business cards, postcards, etc…) printed on Minuteman’s Konica Minolta BizHub 6000 and BizHub C6500Pro Digital Presses.
“We purchased the (Graphic Whizard) CreaseMaster Plus in order to prevent the cracking of digital (toner-based) prints; its capability to perforate will enable us to finish more jobs in-house than before,” says Dean. The Graphic Whizard XDC-530 UV Coater (as shown in photo, on left) is set up to run in-line with the CreaseMaster Plus via the GW Transport Conveyor (not pictured). “The Bni Digital Card Cutter will enable us to automate the production of business cards – previously, we were cutting business cards, amongst other things, on our guillotine cutter,” says Dean.
When asked what the package of finishing equipment is expected to do for his business, Dean comments, “this is going to increase my profits by at least 30 percent. So much of what we print in-house was being sent out for some type of finishing service. I see this investment as a way to re-cooperate many of the outsourcing costs we were incurring on a monthly basis just to do regular, routine work for our customers. Anything beyond that thirty percent is just a bonus.”
